Sorry I’ve been MIA recently! I just wanted to do a quick blog post about my University course (which is why I’ve not been as bloggy), life in general, and a recent book I purchased!
So first things first, I went to my first lecture on Wednesday for my course at University. And I am currently doing an online Uni course due to working and not having the finances to attend University full time at the moment. Plus, it’s more convenient for myself and my situation.
I’m really excited to get started on this course because as I stated in my 50 Facts About Me, my dream job would either be a Publisher or an Author. So this course would just help further my career prospects and give me an edge, I hope, when applying for different jobs later on in my life. Hey, I could even go on to become an English Teacher and pass on my love of books to the next generation!
My University course is for a BA (Honours) in English Literature and Creative Language with Open University. The course is part time, to help around my flexible hours with work, and will take roughly six years depending on how quickly I finish each module. So far the experience had been great! My Tutor is wonderful and really supportive, I’ve already made a couple of friends within the course and look forward to attending more lectures and meeting more people. Especially the part discussing my favourite things… books!
Which brings me onto my next purchase as it ties into the course and this blog! I bought Doctor Faustus: The A Text by Christopher Marlowe (pictured above) off of Amazon for £10.50 because I need a copy of the book for my first assignment. I might have usually gone to the library to borrow a copy but I thought it would be useful to own one so I could highlight specific passages that will help my essays.
I’m looking forward to read through the book/play as I’ve never really read plays that have been written in a different century! It’s definitely going to be a challenge trying to analyse the language and the understanding behind the play but I’m really eager to try! Plus Jude Law was a part of play back in 2002 at the Young Victoria theatre.
I hope you’re all not too disappointed about my long-ish absence and I hope you enjoyed this blog post!
